New Mexico Indian Country to get Stimulus Funds

Nearly $56 million in federal stimulus funds is coming to New Mexico for investments in Indian Country, according to the state’s congressional delegation.

The funds are part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, or ARRA, and are part of the $3 billion that the U.S. Department of Interior will invest in the economic recovery plan, according to the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

The funds will go toward school improvements and maintenance, road and bridge maintenance and work force training.
