Treasury Seeks Comment on Tribal Economic Development Bond Provision Recommendations

On July 12, the Department of the Treasury published in the Federal Register a notice and request for comments from tribal governments and the general public regarding the study that Treasury will conduct with recommendations about the $2 billion Tribal Economic Development Bond authorization that was included in the Recovery Act. The notice is available here:

Among other things that Treasury will be studying is whether the “essential governmental function standard” for tax-exempt governmental bond financing by tribes should be repealed permanently.
