First Round 2 Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) Awards Announced
On July 2, President Obama, along with Agriculture Secretary Vilsack and Commerce Secretary Locke, announced the investment in 66 new Recovery Act broadband projects nationwide, as well as the first 29 Round 2 Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) awards with funding under the Recovery Act.
Among the BTOP awards announced were the following:
- Arizona Office of Economic Recovery – grant to expand computer centers at 28 state and tribal libraries and to provide specialized virtual workforce workstations at 200 locations throughout the State.
- Leech Lake Reservation Business Committee, MN - grant to create seven new public computer centers and upgrade 10 existing facilities on three Indian reservations in Minnesota. The centers will be located at Boys and Girls Clubs within tribally operated community centers.
