Department of Energy Announces Recovery Act Funding to Expand Local Energy Efficiency Efforts

On June 11, the Department of Energy announced that 20 communities have been selected to receive more than $60 million in funding under the Recovery Act to implement local energy efficiency and renewable energy programs.  Local governments, nonprofit organizations and others are among the recipients of this funding under the competitive grants portion of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program.

Among those receiving a grant is the New Mexico Recycling Coalition, a non-profit professional membership organization that includes small towns, tribes and pueblos, and others.
