Recovery Act Funding Available for Beacon Communities
The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology in the Department of Health and Human Services recently posted on Grants.gov a funding opportunity announcement for Recovery Act funding under the Beacon Community Cooperative Agreement Program. The Beacon Community Cooperative Agreement Program will provide funding to communities to build and strengthen their health information technology infrastructure. Awards are expected to be made to qualified non-profit organizations or government entities representing geographic health care communities. Tribal governments and tribal organizations are among the entities eligible to apply for these Recovery Act awards, for which $30.4 million is available. The closing date for applications is June 28, 2010.
