NIH Pathfinder Award to Promote Diversity in the Scientific Workforce Funding Opportunity Announcement
On March 5, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the Department of Health and Human Services posted on www.Grants.gov a Funding Opportunity Announcement for funding under the Recovery Act for the NIH Directors Recovery Act Pathfinder Award to Promote Diversity in the Scientific Workforce. This new research grant program is designed to encourage exceptionally creative individual scientists to develop highly innovative and possibly transforming approaches for promoting diversity within the biomedical research workforce. An estimated $10 million in funding is available, and NIH expects to issue up to five awards. Tribal governments, tribal organizations, Indian housing authorities, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian Serving Institutions, and Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities are among the entities eligible to apply for these grants. The closing date for applications is May 4, 2010.
