Department of Labor Issues Additional Green Jobs Awards
On January 20, Secretary of Labor Solis announced a third round of awards totaling nearly $190 million in funding under the Recovery Act for green jobs training grants. The State Energy Sector Partnership and Training Grants are designed to teach workers the technical and occupational skills required in emerging industries, including energy efficiency and renewable energy. Thirty-four awards have been made to state workforce investment boards in partnership with their state workforce agencies, local workforce investment boards or regional consortia of boards, and One-Stop Career Center delivery systems. Two of these awardees –the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions and to the Wyoming Workforce Development Council – are in partnership with tribal entities and will provide services to tribal members.
