DOJ Seeks Applications from Tribal and Local Governments for Justice Assistance Grant Program
On January 15, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) in the Office of Justice Programs of the Department of Justice announced that it is seeking applications for funding under the Recovery Act from tribal and local governments under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program. Under this solicitation, BJA will be making FY 2010 Recovery Act awards to assist local and tribal efforts to prevent or reduce crime and violence. Only eligible units of local government which did not receive FY 2009 Recovery Act JAG funding may apply. Federally recognized Indian tribes or Alaska Native organizations that perform law enforcement functions as determined by the Secretary of the Interior are considered units of local government for JAG eligibility purposes. The application deadline is January 21, 2010.
