Program Description:
This program is designed to enhance regional competitiveness and promote long-term economic development in regions experiencing substantial economic distress. Through the program, the Economic Development Administration (EDA) provides assistance to support the construction or rehabilitation of essential public infrastructure and facilities necessary to generate or retain long-term private sector jobs and investments, attract private sector capital, and promote regional competitiveness.
General Provisions:
The Act states that the $509 million appropriated may be transferred to federally authorized regional economic development commissions.
Funding Guidance and Timelines:
Applications will be accepted by EDA’s regional offices on an ongoing basis.
Funding Notices:
On March 10, 2009, the Economic Development Administration published in the Federal Register notice of stimulus Act funding.
